Welcome to my web space!
My name is Kathy Hake, and I am an educator in the great state of Oregon. I have always loved arts and crafts, and as a teacher I continually work to incorporate creativity into my classroom.
I am interested in visual literacy and focused most of my graduate school studies in this field. I was inspired by Shirley Brice Heath’s research and art programs, Frank Smith’s theories of the nature of learning, and books like Moon Journals by Joni Chancer and Gina Rester-Zodrow and The Power of Pictures by Beth Olshansky. It has been an exciting journey so far, and I am looking forward to continuing to learn more about how art can support and enrich academic learning.
